SARAH'S 5 STEPS PROTOCOL TO
"GET BACK ON TRACK"
I believe in dreaming big but that doesn't mean we cannot keep things real. Sometimes you set a goal, make a plan, start working hard, then life happens and gets in the way. Your progress comes to a stop, or even worse, it feels as if you're now walking backward and being pulled away from your goal. I know this can feel mortifying and drag you down a vicious circle. Rather than pretending we can make sure this never happens, I developed a simple succession of actions that have helped me get out of that phase. I have come to notice that whenever I execute these 5 steps in their specific order it never fails to uplift my spirit and give me the motivation I need to get back to what I set out to accomplish.
1. FUEL WITH LOVE
Get some healthy and delicious food in you! Give your body (not your emotions) what it needs. Some nutrients (fresh fruits+veggies), some energy (unprocessed carbs like fresh potatoes or quinoa) and some regeneration (aka protein, ethically raised animals or legumes). My favorite source of information for wholesome plant based recipes is pickuplimes.com
2. RE-ENERGIZE WITH NATURE
Go stare at “some nature” for 20 minutes. It can be a forest or a beach or just a tree and the sky. In many ancient cultures watching nature is a sacred practice. It has healing powers for your mind and all your senses.
3. TREAT WITH CARE
Do something nice for yourself. If you can afford it get a massage or a facial, if not take an epsom salt bath or simply light up a candle that smells delicious to you. (Tip: when planning what to do, imagine you are trying to treat your best friend)
4. MOVE WITH AWARENESS
Take a moment to move, it doesn’t have to be amazing, it doesn’t need to burn calories or make you stronger, just feel whatever there is to feel. It can just be stretching your arms over head in the morning and doing some side bends, or putting on a “Yoga with Adrienne” video on YouTube and do 20 minutes of yoga, or go for a walk or a swim or dance or whatever you feel like doing. Just move with no expectations.
5. SURPRISE WITH GAITY
Do something unusual, let yourself be surprised and smile when that happens!
Final note : Throughout the process try to treat yourself with 8-hour nights. Sleep is the most powerful and natural way to feel better. If you do so and follow these steps (either do a step a day or all of them at once if you have time) I guarantee you’ll be back on track!
